When I was writing astrology posts on Friday each week, I pretty much kept the posts to Friday. I had trouble bringing myself to discuss astrology on other days, even when something significant was going on. Interestingly, now that I moved the official day to Monday, it doesn’t bother me a bit to write more than one astrology post a week. Will meditate on that one!
Tomorrow, we have some energy shifts going on, with Mars moving from Aquarius into Pisces at 8:54pm EST, and Venus moving from Capricorn into Aquarius at 9:47pm EST. Next week, on Tuesday, Mercury will move into Pisces. But, I’ll write about that on Monday, as it will also involve a Retrograde, later in February. (Yep, it’s almost that time again!)
Mercury, Venus and Mars are considered “personal” planets. Also, they move through the Zodiac very quickly. As a result, they generally do not bring about global but instead, personal change. How much these transits affect you will depend on how their current position relates to the position of all the planets when you were born. (See AstroFriday Aspects: A Geometric Breakdown) If you had any planets in Pisces or Aquarius at your time of birth, you can definitely expect to feel this!
Mars in Pisces (February 1 until March 12)
In the world there is nothing more submissive and weak than water. Yet for attacking that which is hard and strong nothing can surpass it. – Lao Tzu
Mars is the planet of action, anger, competition, war and sex, and the ruler of the fire sign Aries. Pisces is a water sign and is spiritual, sensitive, and self-sacrificing.
Mars in Pisces is the running river, cutting through the hardest of rock. But, note that in order for a river to cut through rock, it must be consistent, persistent and focused. The river needs banks, or else it spreads itself too thinly and simply sinks into the earth. If you feel like you aren’t getting anything done during the next six weeks, find ways to give yourself “banks” – ways to focus your energy. This is a time of INNER STRENGTH, so let your intuition guide you in your focus. Then, relax and let nature take care of the rest!
Pisces also rules the subconscious and from now through March 12, “your efforts at self-assertion may be undermined by behavior patterns that you are not even aware of.” (Robert Hand) Ever had the feeling that you are “shooting yourself in the foot” but aren’t sure exactly how? Self-sabotaging behaviors will likely surface during the next 6 weeks. Pay attention. Often, attention is all that is needed to make them go away!
Venus in Aquarius (February 1 until February 25)
I’m already highly amused that Valentine’s Day is during the month of the least romantic sign in the entire Zodiac – Aquarius. But, this year, not only will the Sun be in Aquarius, but so will the planet of love! This doesn’t happen every year but it’s not uncommon. It still cracks me up (as someone who has both the Sun and Venus in Aquarius).
Here’s how comedic astrologer Stella Hyde describes Aquarius and marriage, “You may get married, so that you can experience at first hand a primitive cultural ritual, but you know you’d never get it quite right, and it wouldn’t mean anything anyway.”
Her description of an Aquarian vacation from hell, “Honeymoon; trapped in an alien cultural construct with someone who evidently expects you to express feelings and listen to them talk about theirs.”
And my favorite – Hyde’s take on a person with both the Sun and Venus in Aquarius, “You can’t be doing with all this physical neediness; you like a partner who is online, in tight underwear, and on the other side of the world. You always use your mouse, as it’s good to have a free hand. What’s gender got to do with it?” (All quotes from Darkside Zodiac)
Venus in Aquarius is great for group activities and fun with friends. For parties. As for romantic relationships – this may not be the most romantic Valentine’s Day you’ve ever experienced but the next three weeks will provide ample opportunities to deepen your friendship with your loved ones! And, you might meet someone new. Who knows, that friendship could turn into something more romantic, once Venus has moved on!
Finally, a great way to use the energy of both Mars in Pisces and the Sun and Venus in Aquarius, is to volunteer at a hospital, prison or shelter. Pisces rules institutions such as these, and Aquarius wants to change the world for the better.

Thank you Jennifer! I value and appreciate your explanation when I have a question. Appreciate your time and detail so much.
Linda, everyone born around the same time as you has Saturn in Aquarius. The Venus conjunction means that love relationships may be constrained, some with this may even have break-ups during this time. Since yours is in the 2nd house…this will be a good time to make a budget and be extra careful about sticking with it. It’s just a three week transit, so not too long with the extra restraint.
I was just addressing a couple of Valentine’s Day cards to send out. This post is a great glimpse into the quirky Aquarius and how it will interact with the Sun and Venus. I looked back at my chart and the astro reading you gave me and found a couple things.
Chart: Saturn in Aquarius in house number two – self-worth (literal and figurative). Quote from my birthday reading: “There’s a trade-off to keeping your options open.
This is further emphasized by the fact that Saturn is in opposition to your North Node. In order to have that Leo fun, you need to have a balance of Saturnian practicality (think see-saw). We’ve discussed this before as the “fence around the playground.”
Wondering how this Aquarian energy will work with my Saturnian practicality and “fence around the playground.”?
The 9-5 is going really well, couldn’t be happier. Plus I’m writing more.
