Side by side with the Celestial: You are not alone (Ask Sherrie)

You are not alone. The unseen world is chock full of all kinds of benevolent, loving and wise beings who are ready and willing to assist you. In this competitive, demanding, set goals and get ahead world we live in, this might be hard to believe. We often feel so alone, yet the universe is bursting with life.

In my experience the spirit world is not too big on appearances. While we have a need to identify, name and individualize, the unseen realm goes about things a little differently. At the core, all beings are the same- pure divine energy. Although there is no religion, sects, philosophies and discriminations in the unseen, we want the “all that is” to fit into our personal definitions.

Like many people who are opening up to the spirit realm you may be wondering, who might be close to you and what is their purpose? If so, I offer to you a few basics in spiritual discernment.

The following, describes just a small portion of the infinite varieties of life. You may be uncomfortable or not believe in some of these ethereal visitors. If so, accept what feels right and let go of what does not.

Angels

Angels are pure divine love energy. Although they have been known from time to time to appear human and to work through people, they have never lived on this planet as you and I do. Never having separated from the wholeness of divine source, angels offer us healing, love and guidance. Everyone has an angel which has been with you since your birth.

The angelic realm also includes archangels. While angels are messengers from divine source who work primarily with individuals, archangels are guardians of specific divine attributes. For instance, Archangel Gabriel governs, communication, wisdom and provides leadership and Archangel Raphael supervises healing and healers.

Spirit guides

Unlike angels, spirit guides have been human. They are souls who have been through much of the same ups and downs, conditions and challenges that you experience. Having evolved through their earth lives, they no longer need to come back into human form to learn and grow. Many spirit guides continue their growth and evolution through assisting and teaching those of us on earth who are going through many of the same lessons that they confronted while here. Most people have at least on spirit guide assisting them, and sometimes many.

Ascended masters are similar to spirit guides in that they were once human souls on earth who no longer need to return. They are enlightened and evolved souls who embody divine love and wisdom. Having completed their dharma they contribute to the evolution and enlightenment of all beings.

Plant, Mineral and Animal Spirits

All living things, plants, crystals, stones, animals, the wind, sun and moon are life force energy and consciousness. Although quite different from the human soul and the human experience, they embody collective divine soul energy. All plants, stones, crystals and animals govern and preside over certain divine and earth based attributes. For instance, the plant sage represents, longevity, purification, cleansing, healing. The crow embodies spiritual strength and the powers of creation; Native Americans believed them to be the messengers of the Great Spirit. Quartz crystals, release negativity, cleanse the environment and amplify the qualities of others stones.

An interesting side note is that while writing this, it occurred to me that I have not had a crystal visitor in a while, and I was missing their particular energy. The next day as I was opening my front door, I dropped my key. When I bent over to pick it up I noticed a beautiful polished amethyst crystal at my feet. Crystals, stones, plants and animal spirits will show up when you ask them to. While it may appear kooky or silly, communicating with these nature spirits is easy and they will respond. Open your mind and heart and they will be powerful allies.

Fairies and other ethereal earth energies

Fairies, gnomes, changelings, elementals and other earth based celestial beings inhabit our physical realm. Fairies are similar to angels in that they are pure love energy. The biggest difference is that angels are for the most part charged with influencing the human soul while fairies are divine source energy devoted to nurturing and healing the earth realm. Just like other nature spirits, if you invite them into your life they respond with enthusiasm.

Fairies especially love to connect with us humans. One way to get their attention is to build and create little fairy homes for them. Similar to bird houses, if you make space in  your home or garden and lure them in with pretty stones, fruit and flowers they will “move in”.

Loved ones in spirit

Your family members and friends, who have “died”, those who were here on earth in the not too distant past, inhabit a spiritual realm which can be surprisingly similar to the earth plane. Your loved ones are not angels or spirit guides, and they are not necessarily any wiser or more advanced than they were when they were here. Our evolution is dependent our willingness to grow, learn, forgive, love and develop ourselves. Your loved ones in spirit are closer to you than you might think.

Goddesses

Goddesses are sacred aspects of the divine feminine. They are deities which govern and nurture the earth and influence feminine energy here on they earth. Carl Jung the famed psychologist revolutionized the term “archetype” to explain and give meaning to the invisible dynamic patterns of energy consciousness which are ever evolving.  Goddesses are archetypical, in that they are universal patterns for the collective feminine unconscious. They are also personal as they embody aspects of the divine and human soul. Through their energetic influence we can draw power and accelerate our growth. Specific attributes of wisdom, love, healing, intuition and other facets of the journey of the feminine are contained within the various goddesses.

While this list is not complete, these are some of the more common spiritual visitors who we come into contact with on a daily basis (most of the time, unknowingly).

When you open your heart and mind and invoke the presence of the unseen, life becomes more interesting and full of surprises.
