Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. – Seneca (Roman Philosopher)
I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it. – Thomas Jefferson
Welcome to Jupiter in Taurus! Take off your shoes and stay a while! (There are just way too many quotes that apply to this planetary transit.)
Jupiter enters Taurus on June 4, 2011 at 9:56am EDT and will stay there until June 1, 2012. Jupiter has been in Aries since January 22, 2011 (was also in Aries last summer, from June 6 until September 8, 2010).
Jupiter is a happy planet, full of luck and hope and opportunity (and sometimes, blind optimism). Aries is all about action and fire (and sometimes, impulsiveness). With Jupiter in Aries, you may have had all sorts of great ideas, or met a lot of new friends, or started tons of new activities. How great they all are! You have the energy to do everything you can imagine! Parties and new business ventures and rock climbing and…
Whew. You realize you’re a little burned out. You might need a nap. Maybe you’ll, just this once, stay in and watch a movie. Go to bed early. Jupiter is now in Taurus.
Jupiter in Taurus doesn’t mean giving up all your new activities/friends/ideas, though. It just means slowing down and enjoying them. Maybe figuring out that one or two (or half a dozen) of those business ventures might not be quite as promising as they seemed. You realize you only really click with about 10 of the 30 new people you’ve been hanging out with. This is all ok. This is part of the function of Jupiter in Taurus.
Thinks of yourself as BOTH the tortoise and the hare. With Jupiter in Aries, you are racing, racing, racing after every pretty carrot you see. But, even hares get tired. With Jupiter in Taurus, you need to slow down, adapt the pace of the tortoise. Take the time to focus on details, smell a flower, feel the sun on your face, but keep moving forward.
The only real downside to Jupiter in Taurus (besides the possibility of weight gain – seriously), is that you’ll be TEMPTED to remain the hare but to take a nap. To ignore that some of those pretty carrots you saw, while Jupiter was in Aries, were really weeds (remember me mentioning “blind optimism” above?). And, to sleep through all those wonderful, expansive opportunities that Jupiter can bring.
How will Jupiter affect you, specifically? You’ll need to look at your birth chart (get one for free as Astro.com), and you’ll need to know your time of birth. You want to look to see which house of the chart (there are 12) that Aries and Taurus occupy. I have Aries in house five – the house of creativity. My mind has been going NON-STOP since January. I have Taurus in house six – the house of work. Now is the time for me to put in the effort to implement my creative ideas.
If you have Aries in house seven – relationships, you may have picked up a lot of new acquaintances. Now is the time to see who will really become friends. Get the idea?
So, take off your shoes, and feel the grass beneath your toes. Just don’t forget to keep moving.

hi have tauras in rising and aries in 12 ….same as you ..please advc what will this jupiter do fr me
Hi, have you checked your rising sign officially? It depends on the time, day and location of your birth. If you do have Taurus as rising, then it is partially in house 12 (Spirituality) and 1 (individuality, new beginnings). But, use a service like astro.com to verify, if you haven’t already.
Hi there, thanks for the very interesting subject, i am pisces born at 10:30 morning so i recon my rising sign would be taurus? and if so what does it mean to me jupiter in taurus? many thanks
S-Kay, 3rd house is communication, short trips, relations with sibling and neighbors. 4th house is your home, your roots, your ancestral family. Looks like you might be called to “nest” a bit over the next year. That could mean spending more time at home, or hosting people in your home,or redecorating your home. Could also mean an interest in genealogy.
oh & jst for the record my aries in my sun sign as well
wow this is very interesting! i have taurus in 4th house and aries in 3rd house, care to dissect this for me
thnx
Megz, you crack me up! You have Aries in 11, rules social groups and goals… Any frenetic activity in that area that past 6 mos? ; D You’ve got a bit of Taurus in 11 as well, and then, you enter house 12, which is Spirituality and Universal Consciousness.
No aries.. no taurus.. in any of the houses.. LOLZ
Well, my ruler Jupiter’s Aries trip last year was time of new beginnings or maybe simply (re)cycling of previous ones as this prodi(gal) young’un returned home. (nadir @ 7 Aries)Was kinda like those wildflower seed packs you tear open, let scatter and see what pops up. Gonna hang out and enjoy (contemplate) them til Jup hits 5 Taurus like a good Ferdinand, but after that watch out…this Taurus gal’s 5th house is gonna get some serious cultivation…Creativity Rules! Thank you Jennifer, It was really close when I clicked on the chart Taurus looked like it was straddling both 4th & 5th house. What would I do without you???
4th House – Roots and Origins
This house describes our origins, our parental home and the circumstances influencing childhood and youth. It describes how we relate to “family”, our attitudes towards “hearth and home”.
Wait, what happened to your fourth house? Aries and Taurus are right next to each other, so your fourth has to be involved somehow. Fourth is home and ancestry and childhood issues (good and bad) that are still with us today.
Aries in 3rd house – Communication
Pleasure and Creativity The third house tells us about our siblings, the manner in which we communicate on an everyday level and the relationships which determine our daily life. It shows how we react to our immediate environment and learn from it.
Taurus in 5th House
Sexuality and eroticism are at home here, along with play in general and all types of creative expression. This house also describes how we relate to children, pleasure and simple fun.
Planning on more play for sure. Aries took a chunk out of me, and it feels like I can breathe a bit easier. The wiggling the toes in the grass sounds perfect.
Christiana, sounds like you, too, will be working on your creative ideas! It’s a very lucky time to do so. When Jupiter is in your seventh house, it will be a wonderful time for your relationships, both old and new.
Aries starts from the last quarter of my 4th house and up to almost all my 5th.
Taurus then, has the rest of the 5th, all 6th and a bit from 7th………
When Jupiter is conjunct your sun (maybe 9mos or so from now?), that will be SUPER LUCKY. Robert Hand describes it as “the most marvelous of transits.”
As for 7 to 8. Do you think you were more social the past 6 mos than usual? met any new friends/acquaintances? Or, maybe there was a positive change in existing relationships?
I’ve got Aries in the 7th house and Taurus in the 8th? And of course, Taurus is my sun sign
