New Moon in Aries: Are you ready to create a powerful new beginning?

Creating a treasure map
The term “treasure map” was coined by astrologer Buz Meyers, who suggested making a collage (treasure map) on the first day of Spring (when the sun moves into Aries) to visualize your intentions for the next twelve months. Sound familiar? The “treasure map” is basically a vision board, created in conjunction with the timing of the planets.

Astrologer Jan Spiller, in her book New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True actually says it’s most beneficial to create this “treasure map” when the moon first enters Aries. She writes,

For centuries farmers the world over have known to plant their crops by the cycles of the Moon. The Moon moves rapidly through the constellations of the zodiac, and aligns with the Sun (conjoins) once approximately every twenty-nine and a half days. This is called the New Moon…The New Moon is a time that promotes all forms of growth, and anything initiated on those days will be met with rapid growth…

Spiller has experimented with making wishes during the New Moon over a period of many decades. And, next week, I’ll be sharing the details of her discoveries and how to apply them each month when the Moon is new again. Also, I’ll explain how to find the 3-5 weeks each year when your wishes are more “potent”.

Strong New Beginnings
For today, however, we’ll focus on the upcoming New Moon in Aries. While each New Moon is “fruitful for strong new beginnings,” the New Moon is Aries is especially powerful as Aries is the first astrological sign in the zodiac.  The sign of Aries is associated with new beginnings, action, assertiveness, authenticity, exploration, self-reliance, courage, leadership, strength…you get the idea!

Spiller would argue that creating a vision board (or, treasure map) while the New Moon is in Aries is much more effective than one you’d make on or around January 1 because in making one with the New Moon, you are working with the timing of the planets.

A few rules to follow:

Don’t start your treasure map until the New Moon is actually in Aries.

Create your treasure map during the first 48 hours that the New Moon is in Aries.

If that’s not possible, it’s better to be late than early. The Moon must be in Aries for this to work.

It is ok to assemble your materials – posterboard, glue, scissors, magazines  – ahead of time.

Use your intuition for choosing and placing the pictures on your board.

New Moon wishing is more “Yin” (characterized as slow, soft, yielding, diffuse, and passive; and is associated with water, earth, the moon, femininity and nighttime)  than affirmations or resolutions. Think about what you wish to occur; wish to receive, wish to experience, and let your inner voice guide you. If an image you choose doesn’t “feel” right, then don’t include it.  If an image comes to you while working on this, but you don’t see it anywhere, it’s ok to head to the computer to find it. Just make sure your intuition and not your “logic” is guiding you. For example, if you go in thinking, “I want to include pictures of money” but the pictures you see don’t “feel” right – then leave them out. Maybe you’ll be guided towards different images of “prosperity.”

You may be surprised by what you learn!
This map or board is a great way to not only manifest your deepest desires, but to also learn what those deepest desires really are! A few years ago, I did this, thinking that I would include pictures of couples (I’m single). But, none of the pictures appealed to me. It felt like I was forcing myself when I tried to place them on my board. From this, I learned that deep down, I wanted to stay single for a while longer.

Finally, I understand if you’re skeptical but it doesn’t hurt to try, does it? Being skeptical doesn’t affect the efficacy. (I know from experience!)

Whatever you feel led to include, Kim. But, this board works best if you let your intuition lead. So, instead of looking for images that represent predefined goals, thumb through images and include whatever leaps out at you. Does that make sense?

  2. Kim:

Can i place deceased people who have been successful in what i want in the helpful people corner of my board?

  3. I spent all evening last night making my vision board. I cut out every word and photo that caught my eye from the magazines, catalogs and newspapers I had in my house. There were a couple things that surprised me. And as I assembled the board, a few things were left aside. It’s a second board for me. The first one is now in the kitchen.

  4. Funny,I thought I would cut out pictures and words that were about prosperity, new car, money, losing wight as I did in my January vision board. This time I cut out pictures of Ascended Masters, Angels, sacred geometry, and a dragon carp for prosperity!

  5. Kim J:

This morning I used a sketch pad and pencil to draw my vision map… what a great exercise. Thanks, Jen.

I loved this post. Thanks Jen. Like Caren I plan to use my journal. Here’s to us all in the New Moon of Aries xoxo

You may have seen this in the fb page but with this board, I just let my intuition pick the images. Normally, I have an idea of what kinds of images I’m looking for. I was surprised to choose a lot of open windows, open doors, BLUE doors, vaulted ceilings, flowers and fruit! After making the collage, I consulted a dream dictionary to help interpret.

  8. I’ve been wanting to “update” my vision board for the last few months and I happen to have plenty of time today to do it so off I go…

Thanks for clueing me in Jennifer, to an opportunity and I’ll let you know if my visions actualize faster this time.

Caren – yes, writing your wishes is fine. Or, you could make another board – not to replace the old but to supplement. Let your intuition guide you.

Lori – my pleasure. Enjoy creating today!

  10. I like the board I made in January. Going to do the same in my journal though. I will do it on the page dated April 3rd. Hope that will be just as effective.

I love my journal, The Sacred Journey. Lots of places to write and manifest. Thanks for the great article Jen

  11. Very fortuitous that my vision board plans for February and March never happened. Set aside time tomorrow after 10:33am EST to create my map.

    Thanks for sharing this!
