Tori Avey, Shiksa – Woman of the Week

In recognition of Hanukkah, I chose Tori Avey as this week’s “woman of the week.” I will let Tori describe herself (excerpted from her website, The Shiksa.com):

My name is Tori Avey, and I’m a Shiksa.

I’m also an author, blogger, journalist, screenwriter, and our family’s resident chef.

Since meeting my Israeli-born fiance, I’ve traveled the world learning about Jewish cuisine. I’ve dined at the tables of some of the greatest kosher chefs in the world. There is no Le Cordon Bleu equivalent for Jewish cooking. I learned to cook the way most Jewish wives learned—in the kitchen. Generous friends and family have happily shared their culinary skill with me, keeping age-old traditions alive by passing down their beloved family recipes. Now, my goal is to pass that valuable cooking knowledge on to you.

I am currently writing my debut cookbook, The Shiksa In The Kitchen. I invite you to follow my blog, friend me on Facebook and Twitter, and check out my videos on YouTube. It’s wonderful hearing from fellow Jews, Shiksas, Bubbes, Mothers, and fans of Jewish cooking. If you love kosher food like I do, please feel free to share your favorite recipes and cooking techniques… your advice might be featured on a future blog!
